The number of electric vehicles' (EVs) charging stations in the country is still low, with less than 1,000 recorded nationwide, says Deputy Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Ahmad Amzad Hashim.

He said the Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry initially targeted to have 5,000 charging stations nationwide this year with a focus on major towns but to date, the number of EV stations is still far below the target.
