Mavcom settles suits with Airasia, Airasia X over RM2m fines

The Malaysian Aviation Commission (Mavcom), the local budget airline AirAsia Bhd and its sister long-haul carrier AirAsia X Bhd, have settled two suits that sought to compel both companies to pay RM2 million fines each.

On Sept 14, before two separate Kuala Lumpur High Courts, the parties recorded consent judgments in the matter, entailing Airasia and Airasia X each to pay the RM2 million fines in 18 instalments.

According to copies of the draft consent judgments sighted by Malaysiakini this afternoon, Airasia and Airasia X will each pay the first instalment of RM113,000 on Oct 15 this year, and will pay the final instalment of...
