RTS back on track: Cost down by a third, Johor sultan to chip in

The Rapid Transit System (RTS) is back on track after Putrajaya secured cost savings and cooperation from landowners, including the Johor Sultan.

In a statement today, the government announced that the project will now cost RM3.16 billion, down 36 percent from the previous RM4.93 billion price tag set by the previous administration.

"An important feature of the revised project structure of the RTS is the involvement of the developer/owner of the Bukit Chagar land to fund and enable the project with the land cost waived...
