Judge remanded in hospital over bribery case involving illegal immigrants
ADS

A Sessions Court judge in Selangor has been remanded for two days to assist the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in its investigation into a bribery case related to the release of illegal immigrants.

The remand on the judge who was arrested by MACC yesterday was made at Putrajaya Hospital here where he was warded after complaining of chest pain this morning.

Media practitioners had earlier waited outside the magistrate’s court here to cover the case but were eventually told that the remand order on the 45-year-old man was issued at the hospital.

“Remanded for two days,” said MACC chief commissioner Latheefa Koya briefly.

Yesterday, Latheefa said the judge was detained following the arrest last week of a lawyer, a deputy public prosecutor and six policemen from Hulu Selangor District Police Headquarters.
