Emergency and Disaster Management (Khidmat Malaysia) director Iskandar Abdul Samad is demanding that Yeo Bee Yin reveal the names of the culprits behind the illegal factories in Pasir Gudang.

"We welcome the announcement by the energy, science, technology, environment and climate change minister to carry out a joint-enforcement operation to shut down illegal factories in Pasir Gudang.

"But she must first clarify whether the toxic gas poisoning in Pasir Gudang was caused by illegal or legal factories," he said in a statement today.

"If the poisoning was also caused by the legal or licensed factories, shutting down the illegals will not remedy the situation.

"The ministry should have identified the culprit responsible for this poisoning by now. This is the second incident."

On Wednesday, Yeo described the personal attacks on her over the Pasir Gudang health issue as insulting the professionalism of government officers who have been patiently seeking the source of the incident from day one.

Yeo said these allegations were serious lies and were not constructive, especially when both federal and state governments are working hard to look into the health issue.

Iskandar, who is also PAS treasurer, urged her not to overreact, saying it was the responsibility of a minister to answer to the rakyat.

"At times there may be accusations but this is not unusual when people are angry. Please do not threaten the rakyat as your salary is being paid by them.

"You are no longer a backbencher at the Selangor State Assembly but a federal minister. You must provide leadership. Please resign if you cannot cope with the pressure," added Iskandar.
