Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) has submitted an official request for issues surrounding troubled state investment fund 1MDB to be discussed by the Conference of Rulers at its meeting next month.

Amanah communications director Khalid Samad said the move was necessary as there has so far been no action from the government since the United States Department of Justice filed a civil suit to recover nearly US$1 billion in assets and funds linked to 1MDB.

“The issue of 1MDB was raised by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong last year, at the time when it was hotly debated,” Khalid told reporters outside Istana Negara in Kuala Lumpur today.
