SRC case: MACC vs judge
Leaks on the MACC's findings on the judge who convicted and sentenced Najib Abdul Razak have become a focal point after the former premier's judicial review bid was rejected.
The latest development was Najib’s lawyer Farhan Shafee confirming that de facto Law Minister Azalina Othman Said sent them a letter affirming aspects of the MACC probe on Judge Mohd Nazlan Mohd Ghazali.
This is in regard to queries by lawyer Shafee Abdullah on whether the MACC had found Nazlan in conflict of interest while presiding over the SRC International case, and if he had violated the Judges' Code of Ethics.
Azalina said she was only doing her job in replying to Shafee, but stressed that Nazlan's case was under the judiciary’s purview.
The Federal Court had previously ruled on Feb 24 that the MACC's probe on Nazlan did not follow protocol.

‘Double six’ crash report declassified
The government has agreed to make public the report on a Sabah Air crash, which occurred on June 6, 1976. The report has remained classified for 47 years.
The crash had claimed 11 lives, including that of then Sabah chief minister Fuad Stephens.
In announcing the decision, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said Sabahans want to know the outcome of the investigation.
"This issue has raised many questions and unhappiness,” he noted.
Others who perished in the crash were state ministers Salleh Sulong, Peter Mojuntin and Chong Thien Vun, state assistant minister Darius Binion, Sabah Finance Ministry permanent secretary Wahid Peter Andau, Isak Atan (private secretary to then finance minister Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah), Said Mohammad (Fuad’s bodyguard), pilot Gandhi Nathan and Fuad’s eldest son Johari Stephens.

Opposition leader’s son charged
Opposition leader Hamzah Zainudin’s son was charged in the Seremban Sessions Court with nine counts of violations in relation to the cooking oil subsidy.
Muhammad Faisal Hamzah, 39, was charged together with Azizul Abdul Halim, 55, with providing false information by producing fake invoices on the purported sale of the subsidised cooking oil to a local retail company.
Both men were directors of Rimba Merpati Sdn Bhd, a wholesale cooking oil licence holder.
This purportedly violated Section 8(4) of the Control of Supplies Act 1961, as cooking oil is a controlled item under the act.
Perikatan Nasional leaders have cried foul over the charges levelled against them, accusing the administration of selective prosecution.
