A 12-year-old girl, subjected to alleged abuse at the hands of her own parents, including being confined in a dog cage, has now been rescued and placed under the protective care of her grandmother.

According to the New Straits Times, Penang authorities located the grandmother following media reports, and she has been appointed the girl’s temporary guardian.
