The MCMC clarified that it had asked Meta to take down controversial preacher Zamri Vinoth’s Facebook post - that compared kavadi bearers during Thaipusam to individuals who are possessed or intoxicated - on March 5.

However, it said the decision to remove the content - found to contain elements of offence under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 (CMA) - ultimately fell on the platform.
