YOURSAY | 'Bersatu should blame Azmin and gang for the predicament they are in now.'

Seat talks: Little room for Bersatu as Umno lays ground rules

IndigoTrout2522: Umno and PAS formed Muafakat Nasional coalition with the sole purpose of winning the general election.

Prime Minister and Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin has to know his support is flimsy. Why should Umno, being the largest party with the most MPs in the coalition, give away the PM position and power?

Umno will dominate the next government, regardless of what happens to former PM Najib Abdul Razak and party president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi. There are other senior leaders in Umno aiming for the top party posts. This is just plain common sense.

Muhyiddin was too crazy for power and the PM position. He was used by former PKR leader Azmin Ali and his team of betrayers.

Muhyiddin is a goner and Bersatu will either be dissolved or taken over by Umno. Azmin will have to play his cards again to survive politically.

For those in Bersatu and the former PKR MPs who betrayed the mandate given to them in GE14, serves them right.

AnotherKomentar: It has been clear that for the next general election, Umno-PAS-GPS want to have their cake and eat it too.

The right to contest under BN or whatever acronym to be used, what is called "seat allocation", confers money and power to those making the decision, usually Umno.

Once nominated by BN, even sure losers will end up with millions, along with power and prestige.

In this corrupted, gerrymandered and unbridled "Malaysian democracy", the gravy train must be filled to feed the hungry sycophants, leeches and hangers-on.

Bersatu will be a supplicant and beggar in this dog-eat-dog world. Democracy will wither as usual.

PurpleKoala5651: The results of the Slim by-election showed that Muhyiddin, Bersatu and Azmin's cartel are almost finished. Their contribution at Slim was almost non-existent.

As for former Bersatu president Dr Mahathir Mohamad, his political ambition has come to a sad end, and he deserves it.

DAP and Amanah’s leadership must align, strongly and clearly, with PKR and Anwar Ibrahim and without Mahathir's interference, to take on Umno and PAS.

Perhaps then, people may reluctantly give Pakatan Harapan a second chance, though on paper it looks quite difficult.

Sayonara MY: Umno surely isn’t giving any face to Bersatu nor Muhyiddin. They are stomping on Bersatu.

Basically, Bersatu is nothing. Nobody wants to touch them with a 10-foot pole. Their MPs better decide whether they want to jump back to Mahathir and save themselves before they all drown in Azmin’s treachery.

Bersatu should blame Azmin and gang for the predicament they are in now. Muhyiddin should be kicking himself every day for listening to him.

In the end, Bersatu and Azmin’s gang are the biggest losers in all of this, and they deserve every bit of it.

Hare: I feel Umno has the right to claim all the seats they won in 2018 because those candidates won as Umno candidates. They would not have won otherwise.

And this condition to contest all the seats they won in 2018 would also eliminate future frog activities from their party - Umno MPs will think twice before jumping in the future.

ColorAnimalNumber: Muhyiddin said that Bersatu must leave Harapan for its survival. How in the world was that considered surviving?

When Bersatu was in Harapan, they were treated like a big brother. If they had stayed in Harapan, they would be able to compete in at least 35 seats. How about now? I hope the backstabbing was worth it.

IndigoToucan1627: @ColorAnimal, my guess is when Muhyiddin and Azmin decided to stage their coup, the immediate gratification was to prevent Anwar from becoming PM. That to them was extremely urgent.

Now that all is done and dusted, they have to think about their long-term survival, which is not going to be easy.

The number one priority for Umno is for them to take charge. For now, Muhyiddin is in charge, and the longer he is in charge, the more uneasy Umno will be.

The PM seat is getting hotter and hotter for Muhyiddin. Good luck to him. Now he and Azmin are reaping what they sowed.

And Justice for All: The only reason Bersatu survived in Harapan was due to the concessions made by PKR, DAP and Amanah for them. Even the seat of the PM, their allies stepped aside and gave the post to them.

People were being nice to them, but it got to their head. They thought they were successful in their own right. Now they know the truth.

Just A Malaysian: Indeed, in Harapan, even though Bersatu had only a few seats, it was treated well.

They have the PM position and as many ministers as PKR. They also held key posts like the Home Ministry. Azmin was given an important portfolio.

Now in Perikatan Nasional (PN), they are treated like used toilet paper. I can only say "padan muka" (serves you right).

Vent: That said, before we gloat over Bersatu's imminent demise, we should be groaning equally under the weight of BN's imminent rebirth.

Either way, we are the ones who will suffer.
