CORONAVIRUS | Speedhome and KYY Home will provide rent subsidies amounting to RM500,000 to tenants to deal with the tough economic situation caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Speedhome chief executive officer Wong Whei Meng said in the rent relief programme, two months’ rental will be entirely free for tenants whose incomes have been affected by the pandemic.

“Our data shows more than 10 per cent of tenants may not be able to continue paying for their property because of the impact of Covid-19 on their jobs,” he said in a statement today.

Speedhome is an online property platform which leaves out the use of an agent, instead, one can deal with the landlord directly.

Meanwhile, KYY Home managing director Marcus Low said business owners who are well off have a responsibility to society during this difficult period.

“We are delighted to play a small part and make a difference by offering two months’ rental relief to our tenants. We hope this helps them in these difficult times,” the property investment firm managing director said.

Low said tenants have to log in to an account on Speedhome and, after setting up an account, they need to search for a property marked KYY on the website and send a chat request after watching the property video.

If the tenant finds the property suitable, they can move in, he said. - Bernama
