Two Sarawakian MPs who left PKR to join Muhyiddin Yassin's government have promised that they will be the voice of Sarawak in the new government.

In a statement today, Puncak Borneo MP Willie Mongin and Saratok MP Ali Biju said their presence in the new administration will ensure that Sarawak is well represented.

"As events were proceeding at lightning speed, we both conferred and decided that whatever position we took would ultimately be based on one underlying objective: Sarawak's welfare.

"Sarawak's voice must be heard in this new alignment and we hope to execute this duty and responsibility with great courage and determination," said the duo, who described themselves as "anak Sarawak".

The duo said they will act as the bridge between Sarawak and the federal government, while promising that they will bring development to their respective constituencies, which are both rural.

"We cannot deliver development if we choose to be in the opposition," they said.

"In the government, we have access to all the mechanisms available to ensure that the vision of Shared Prosperity is realised by 2030."

Willie and Ali were among the group of 10 MPs who left PKR for Bersatu last week. In turn, the bulk of Bersatu MPs left Pakatan Harapan to form a new government with opposition parties, with Muhyiddin at the helm.

Currently, Muhyiddin enjoys the support of 18 Gabungan Parti Sarawak MPs and two former PKR MPs. There are 31 MPs in total from Sarawak.
