1. The government will not extend the visa of China nationals who are already in the country, Deputy Prime Minister Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail said after visiting the Health Ministry's Crisis Preparedness Response Centre in Putrajaya, where she was briefed on the latest updates on the novel coronavirus preparations.

2. The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has announced the detention of four more individuals suspected of distributing fake news content about the novel coronavirus outbreak. MCMC said enforcement officers from the commission carried out four raids with the help of the police.

 3. The government has agreed in principle to tighten existing laws on driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs and increase the penalties, said Transport Minister Anthony Loke, adding that the government hoped to table the amendments by July.

4. DAP deputy secretary-general Nga Kor Ming told the Oriental Daily that should the government fail to recognise the Unified Examination Certificate (UEC), the party would not hesitate to give up its role in the government.

 5. Kuala Kangsar PKR women's chief Jaliah Ahmad Mahir, 72, was among a group of some 200 people gathered outside the party's headquarters to protest against vice-president Zuraida Kamaruddin, who replied to a show-cause letter from PKR's disciplinary board.

6. A police officer was brought before the Magistrate's Court in Shah Alam today following a complaint of falsified documents in a drug case. However, before the officer could be charged, deputy public prosecutor Nur Shazwanie asked the court to empty the room of any persons not involved in the case, including the media, because the case dealt with sensitive matters.

7. The High Court in Kuala Lumpur denied Gadek assemblyperson G Saminathan's bid to be released on bail in relation to his Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) terrorism case.

8. The total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in China reached 5,974 and the death toll from the new virus strain went up to 132, China's National Health Commission reported.
