PKR vice-president Zuraida Kamaruddin today said she plans to respond to the show-cause letter issued by the party's disciplinary board.

Zuraida (above) declined to divulge the reasons for the show-cause letter, but hinted that it had something to do with a fiery speech she made during a gathering of PKR deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali's supporters at Renaissance Hotel last month.

"I will respond to the issues raised but at the moment I can't say what those issues are.

"What is important is that all that I said at Renaissance is the truth," the Ampang MP told reporters after distributing oranges, together with Azmin, at Pasar Ampang.

On Dec 8 at a dinner organised following a walkout after PKR's heated national congress, Zuraida had alleged that PKR president Anwar Ibrahim tried to convince her that a sex video allegedly featuring Azmin was real.

Zuraida also claimed that Anwar, in trying to convince her, went on to claim that Mahathir had requested for Anwar to sack Azmin.

At the time, Zuraida said that she also did not fear being dismissed from the party for her statements made against Anwar, PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution and several other leaders.

Meanwhile, Zuraida today also dismissed a call by 10 state PKR chiefs yesterday for the disciplinary board to sack her.

"Let others entertain them. That's not my standard," she said.

"I will face the disciplinary board and I hope they will carry out their duties.

"We know influences of the party leadership and even in that situation, I’m sure they will give me a fair judgment," said the housing and local council minister.

Kedah PKR chief Johari Abdul yesterday led nine other state chiefs, following the monthly Central Leadership Council meeting held earlier, to make an open call for Zuraida's dismissal.

They also claimed that their call was made with a "majority support" from grassroots leaders.

'Why the double standard?'

In response, PKR Women's Wing information chief Syahrul Ema Rena Abu Samah questioned the alleged double standard within PKR - in freedom to critic their leaders, as well as on party discipline to attend meetings.

She claimed that Johari had spoken up against Zuraida's alleged indiscipline but remained silent over the continuous absence of other leaders in the Central Leadership Council, including Anwar's daughter Nurul Izzah, and Rafizi Ramli.

"Why is it that I never hear from among those who are anti-Zuraida or anti-Azmin calling for these two vice-presidents to resign?," she said.

She also said that while Zuraida and Azmin were elected to their posts by PKR members, Johari and the other state chiefs had mostly lost in party elections but were instead appointed to their current positions.
