PKR communications director Fahmi Fadzil has denied there is a motion of no-confidence against party president Anwar Ibrahim.

Furthermore, he said the deadline for submitting motions for the PKR national congress has expired.

“I am in the committee handling motions and there is no motion brought to our attention regarding a vote of no confidence,” the Lembah Pantai MP told reporters in Parliament this morning.

Prior to this, Rawang assemblyperson Chua Wei Kiat said a check revealed that no such motion was raised by the Youth wings at the divisional level during their respective annual general assemblies.

Chua is the chairperson of the 2019 PKR Youth congress' committee for motions and debates.

“All motions intended for debate at the national congress must be tabled through the division Youth annual general assemblies which took place from August to October,” he added in a statement.

On the contrary, he said there are numerous motions expressing support for Anwar, who is embroiled in a bitter feud with his estranged deputy Azmin Ali.

Therefore, Chua believes the claim that there is a motion of no-confidence against the president is nothing more than a “gimmick to draw public attention.”

The alleged no-confidence motion was raised in join statement by Lembah Pantai Youth vice-chief Nazrin Idham Razali, Sandakan pro-tem secretary Isaac Wong Kah Kiet and Lembah Pantai committee members - Mohd Nur Fadli Omar and Muhammad Yazid Mohamad Salleh.

The group, which is aligned to Azmin, urged leaders at all levels, including the central leadership council (MPP) members, to push a motion of no-confidence against Anwar for allegedly undermining the reformation agenda.

PKR's national congress would be held from Dec 5-8 in Malacca.

Previously, it was reported that Azmin and those aligned to him are planning to hold a separate congress during the same period.

Yesterday, PKR advisory council chairperson Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail said there would only be one congress.

"To us, the party is organising one (national) congress only, that is the official congress,” she added.
