ILKKM grads without gov't job offers can work in private sector

Health Ministry Training Institute (ILKKM) graduates who have not received any offer from the government within 12 months upon graduating can apply for jobs in the private sectors.

Deputy Health Minister Dr Lee Boon Chye, said, however, based on existing rules, those graduates would still need to return to the public service if they were offered a job by the ministry.

“If the graduates have not received job offers including contracts (from the government), then they are not bound by the rules (to serve the government).

“Even within the 12 months period, they can apply for jobs at another place, but if they receive offers from the government while working (in the private sector), then they have to return and serve the government for four years,” he told a press conference.

He said this after officiating the closing of the 2019 ILKKM Convocation ceremony at ILKKM Sultan Azlan Shah in Ipoh yesterday.

On the appointment of ILKKM on a contract basis, Dr Lee said all those who graduated in 2017 had been offered jobs.

“For the 2018 and 2019 graduates, we will try to absorb them on a contract basis next year. This is not only for medical assistants, but others including nurses and pharmacy assistants,” he said.
