Clarification on 5-minute waiting time for e-hailing drivers at KLIA2
ADS

LETTER | In response to the letter carried in your publication on Oct 17, 2019 written by YS Chan on the latest regulations imposed on e-hailing drivers, Segi Astana Sdn Bhd would like to clarify that there is no extra charge at the KLIA2 transportation hub after the first five minutes nor after any particular time period.

The transportation hub of KLIA2 is an integral part of the integrated airport complex which also comprises the KLIA2 airport terminal and gateway@klia2 airport mall.

The KLIA2 transportation hub serves as a one-stop centre offering various modes of transport options such as buses, taxis, car rental etc to arriving and departing passengers as well as visitors and members of the public.

The recent implementation of passenger pick-ups by e-hailing drivers at the transportation hub which also applies to taxi-on-booking, is to ensure that e-hailing drivers are able to pick up their passengers in a safe and convenient environment, instead of the forecourt road which can be congested.

For picking up passengers at the KLIA2 transportation hub, a RM5 charge is imposed on the taxi-on-booking as well as e-hailing drivers, on a per entry basis.

There is no extra charge at the KLIA2 transportation hub after the first five minutes nor after any particular time period.

In order to ensure smooth pick-ups and avoid congestion, e-hailing drivers are reminded to make prior confirmation with their passengers to ensure that passengers are already waiting at the pick-up point.

In addition, Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd has designated an additional waiting area for e-hailing drivers opposite the Long-Term Car Park (LTCP).

We encourage all e-hailing drivers to make full use of this waiting area as it will help reduce congestion at the KLIA2 terminal.

We are constantly striving to provide a safer and convenient place for the passengers and welcome the addition of e-hailing transportation mode to the KLIA2 transportation hub.
