ADS

Parts of Sarawak continue to experience very unhealthy Air Pollution Index (API) levels, indicating that the haze which has persisted over the past few weeks is not improving.

At 9am, the figures for Kuching (231), Sri Aman (230) and Samarahan (207) were all at very unhealthy levels, while Sibu, Sarikei, Kuala Baram, Mukah and Miri were all at unhealthy levels of between 101-200.

In Peninsula Malaysia, Johan Setia Klang has registered an API reading of 121 at 9am, while Putrajaya, Shah Alam, Klang and Petaling Jaya are all nearing the threshold with API readings of between 90-99.

An API reading of 0 to 50 indicates good air quality; 51 to 100, moderate; 101 to 200, unhealthy; 201 to 300, very unhealthy and 300 and above, hazardous.

The public can refer to the Environment Department portal to get the latest API readings.

Flights unaffected

Despite the worsening haze, all Kuching International Airport (KIA) flights are still proceeding as usual.

According to an airport spokesperson, athere were no flight cancellations as at 12am today.

"All of them are proceeding as usual," he told Bernama.
