About 40 stargazers gather outside Planetarium Negara, Kuala Lumpur, this morning for a chance to glance at a partial lunar eclipse through one of many telescopes set up outside.

Despite heavy clouds and an ominous thunderstorm looming on the horizon, those patient enough to wait are eventually rewarded with clear but fleeting glimpses of the rare phenomenon through occasional gaps in the cloud cover.

Incidentally, the event also coincides with the 50th anniversary of the launch of the Apollo 11 mission that eventually landed the first two people on the moon.
