The Kelantan Information Department will conduct election simulation sessions for Kelab Malaysiaku members from 80 secondary schools in Kelantan soon.

Its director, Lim Ann Teck said the simulation programme will be carried out in collaboration with the state Education Department and state Election Commission.

“The move is to expose students aged 16, 17 and 18 to the correct election practices in Malaysia,” Lim told reporters at a programme on the ‘Practices of Parliamentary Democracy’ held at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Pak Badol, Bachok, today.

Lim said the simulation was also in line with the government's proposal to lower Malaysia's voting age from 21 to 18 which is currently being debated in Parliament.

To date, the simulation exercise has been held in schools in several districts, including Machang, Kota Bharu, Gua Musang and Bachok.

Lim added that the department was also working to register 167,000 Kelantanese aged 21 years as voters.
