Sabah fish bombing: 30 arrests in first half of 2019
ADS
Sabah Marine Police (Region 4) has made 23 arrests over fish bombing under the Fisheries Act 1985 and seven more under the Explosives Act 1957 between January and June this year.

Its commander, ACP Mohamad Pajeri Ali said during the period, they had also seized the tools, such as the detonators, ammonia fertiliser and compressors believed to have been used in the fish bombing activities.

“The marine police view the offence seriously as it is not only dangerous for the perpetrators but would also destroy the marine ecosystem and jeopardise the scuba activities around the vicinity,” he said in a statement here today.

Mohamad Pajeri said anti-fish bombing operation would be carried out continuously in Sabah waters in a bid to curb the crime from being rampant.

“Sabah marine police will always prioritise the efforts to combat fish bombing activities in Sabah waters, whether by launching its own operations or collaborating with other enforcement agencies such as Fisheries Department and Sabah Parks,” he added.
