In Feb 2019, Court of Appeal Judge Hamid Sultan Abu Backer made shocking revelations about corruption and impropriety in the judiciary.

The government then agreed to set up a Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) to investigate the judiciary, but to date, it has not materialised.
