Johor welcomes MACC to probe state GLCs

The state government will provide open access to the MACC to investigate any state government-linked companies (GLC) involved in any wrongdoing.

Johor Menteri Besar Dr Sahruddin Jamal also said the state government is prepared to give its full cooperation if necessary.

“We will be giving cooperation and freedom for MACC to investigate,” he told reporters after an open house at his official residence, Saujana here today.

He was asked whether the state government would give its full cooperation to MACC to probe any GLCs as some were reported to be under investigation by the commission.

On another issue, Sahruddin said the state government would be making a decision on the compensation to Seletar Orang Asli in Stulang Laut in a week or two.

The decision would be made at the State Executive Council Meeting.

"We will inform the people on the outcome of the meeting,” he said.

On Monday (June 3), 51 Orang Selatar from Kampung Orang Asli in Kuala Masai, Pasir Gudang filed an application for a mandamus judicial review at the Johor Bahru High Court to resolve the issue of land compensation on their land in Stulang Laut which has been postponed in the past nine years.

All of them have moved out of their original villages in Stulang Laut to Kampung Orang Asli in Kuala Masai and they were represented by counsel Tan Poh Lai.
