PAS Youth vice-chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari (above) has taken offence at Perlis mufti Mohd Asri Zainul Abidin's Facebook page for linking two arson suspects to the Islamist party.

The administrator of the Facebook page had earlier today uploaded the photograph of two men who were arrested for allegedly torching the Perlis mufti's vehicle.

In the photographs, the men had taken the pictures with PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang.

"I am of the view that the writing (post) on the page belonging to the Perlis mufti is very irresponsible and can only be written by someone who is immoral.

"How can the author link the arrested suspects to PAS when the police investigation is still ongoing?" he said in a comment piece published on the Islamist party's organ Harakahdaily.

Asri's Facebook posting has since been deleted.

Fadhli said PAS had already condemned the incident when it was first discovered on March 21 that Asri's vehicle had been torched in front of his home.

The PAS leader said he assumes that the post was not endorsed by Asri but said the author should not be allowed access to his Facebook page.

Earlier, PAS's volunteer corp Unit Amal confirmed its members had been arrested.

Unit Amal director Mohd Nazree Mohd Aris said three members were remanded for four days to facilitate investigation and expressed surprise.

"I am shocked at why the police arrested my personnel when they were not involved, and possess no criminal record.

"The prime suspects were captured by the CCTV outside the mufti’s house. One of them is a drug addict and has a record of committing five serious crimes, while the other remains at large," he said.
