Police have arrested 35-year-old Muhammad Zamri Vinoth Kalimuthu for allegedly insulting Hinduism.
This comes after several police reports were lodged against the preacher yesterday over a sermon uploaded onto the internet that was deemed "blasphemous."
Perlis police chief Noor Mushar Mohd confirmed the arrest, according to Free Malaysia Today.
Zamri was reportedly arrested by the Serious Crime Unit (D9) of the police in front of a restaurant in Arau, at around 2.30am.
He is being investigated under section 298A of the Penal Code for causing disharmony on grounds of religion, and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 for misuse of network services.
