An audio clip is making the rounds on social media and Umno has denied having a hand in the matter.

The clip, which is more than four minutes, is of a purported Perak executive council member criticising menteri besar Ahmad Faizal Azumu.

The person claimed that if meetings are scheduled for 10am, the Bersatu leader would turn up an hour later and often skipped programmes with Perak ruler Sultan Nazrin Shah.

According to The Star, the person, who was believed to be speaking to a group of Umno asssemblypersons, wanted Faizal to be replaced.

Meanwhile, state opposition leader Saarani Mohamad said fingers should not be pointed at Umno over the audio clip.

“Why link it to Umno? Those fighting with the MB are from Pakatan Harapan... What is mentioned in the video concerned them, not Umno.

“Umno and PAS will not take over the state government through an immoral manner. We have vowed to be an opposition with integrity,” he told Utusan Online.

Meanwhile, The Star spoke to exco member Abdul Aziz Bari, whose voice is similar to that of the person in the clip.

Claiming not to have heard the clip, the DAP assemblyperson, however, questioned if it was authentic.

“We don't even know if the source of the audio recording is authentic. It can be doctored.

“I feel that the issue of losses over the Movie Animation Park Studios (MAPS) is a much bigger issue than the audio recording,” he added.

Previously, it was reported that audit reports into MAPS revealed double payments to the company's employees and the subcontractors hired for its construction.

A MACC report has also been lodged against the project, whose construction cost went from RM390 million to RM607 million.

Yesterday, it was reported that a motion proposing that the Perak government intervene in the financial problems faced by MAPS has been submitted to the state speaker by Keranji assemblyperson Chong Zhemin.

During the last state assembly meeting, Aziz denied that he was out to oust the menteri besar but the opposition leader claimed that five Umno assemblypersons had met him over the alleged plot.
