Former premier Najib Abdul Razak has told a DAP lawmaker who accused him of stalling his corruption trial to look at the chronology of court proceedings involving one of the party's own leaders.

In a Facebook post tonight, Najib cited the case of DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng purchasing a bungalow at below market value as an example.

He was responding to DAP Ipoh Timur MP Wong Kah Woh, who had accused Najib of making a 'U-turn' on his upcoming corruption trial.

Wong had claimed that Najib's actions showed that he merely wanted to create a perception of eagerness to face his trial by backing a call to have it broadcast live, while simultaneously applying tactics to delay the start of his corruption trial. 

In reply, Najib listed down key dates in Lim’s case, from the day the then Penang chief minister and businessperson Phang Li Koon, who sold him the bungalow, were charged in June 2016, until their acquittal in September 2018.

He also noted that six postponements had occurred within those two years, due to various reasons.

Najib has been slapped with 42 charges of money laundering, criminal breach of trust and abuse of power.

Of these charges, 25 are related to 1MDB, six are on 1MDB's settlement with Abu Dhabi's International Petroleum Investment Co, and one is related to the alleged tampering of the National Audit Department's report on 1MDB.

Najib has also been arrested several times by the MACC.

Yesterday, Najib's trial over seven SRC International-related charges began at the Kuala Lumpur High Court.
