Dewan Rakyat deputy speaker Nga Kor Ming's conduct has tainted the sanctity of his position and Parliament, said Khairy Jamaluddin.

In a statement posted on his Facebook page this evening, the Rembau MP also urged Nga to stop “‘hiding’ behind his robe” and being “arrogant”.

"Nga, stop 'hiding' behind your robe, and being arrogant in the seat of power.

"Many of his actions, decisions, and statements have not only tainted the sanctity of the deputy speaker's post but the Dewan Rakyat's image as well.

"Worse still, it can disrupt the harmony among the rakyat, as it creates doubts and rouses the anger of a certain group of people," said Khairy.

Earlier today, Khairy took a swipe at Nga's comprehension skills, and referred to him as "Taliban" in the Dewan.

Khairy appeared to be referring to Nga's remark at an event in Taiping, where he claimed that Malaysia could turn into a Taliban state if an Umno-PAS alliance were to come into power.

Khairy later retracted his remark following Nga's demand, but the latter insisted the BN lawmaker should apologise to Parliament over the episode.

'You started it first'

In the Facebook post, Khairy said that it was Nga who had started the furore surrounding the use of the word “Taliban”.

He cited several reported instances where Nga had uttered the word when referring to the co-operation between PAS and Umno.

"Although Nga's remarks were made outside the Dewan Rakyat, he is officially the deputy speaker, and every statement he makes should be reflective of the position he holds."

Khairy then proceeded to point out instances where Nga had allegedly acted unfairly in Parliament, like allowing the use of the word "bodoh" (stupid), and approving the discussion of matters which are under court proceedings.

"Clearly, Nga's conduct is sub judice.

"This has not only tainted the image of the legislature, but also the judiciary," he wrote.
