Two M'sians among those wounded in shootings at NZ mosques

    (Updated )

Two Malaysians are among those wounded during a shooting at two mosques in the city of Christchurch, in New Zealand, the Foreign Ministry said today.

The ministry, in a statement, said as of 3pm (Malaysian time), no Malaysians were recorded to be among the fatalities and the wounded are being treated at the hospital.

"Malaysia condemns in the strongest term, this senseless act of terror on innocent civilians and hopes that those responsible for this barbaric crime be brought to justice.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and families of today’s shooting incident," it said, adding that the Malaysian High Commission in Wellington is monitoring the situation closely.

The high commission, had in a tweet earlier, confirmed that a Malaysian has been injured in the incident.

A tweet by Foreign Minister Saifuddin Abdullah said one of the victims is in stable condition and the wife of the victim has been contacted.

Details of the victim are yet to be released at press time.

Meanwhile, the High Commission also asked affected Malaysians in the incident or those in need of assistance to contact them at +64210440188 or [email protected]
