PARLIAMENT | The government has no intention to sue investment giant Goldman Sachs Group Inc or any other parties in the US over the funds taken from state fund 1MDB.&nbsp;This is in order to focus on local proceedings pertaining to the case, said Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Liew Vui Keong.Liew was responding in a written reply in Dewan Rakyat to Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng, who had asked if the government intends to sue or take any other legal action in the US, against Goldman Sachs and other parties to recover funds lost in 1MDB transactions.Liew noted that the attorney-general had filed <a href="https://www.malaysiakini.com/news/456541" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">criminal charges</a> against Goldman Sachs subsidiaries and the bank’s former employees Tim Leissner and Roger Ng, fugitive businessperson Low Taek Jho and former 1MDB employee Jasmine Loo Ai Swan.Goldman Sachs is currently being investigated by the Malaysian authorities and the US Department of Justice (DOJ) for underwriting and arranging three bond sales that raised US$6.5 billion (RM26.5 billion) for 1MDB.Leissner and Ng were charged in the US last year in connection with the 1MDB scandal.
