Stop harping on Najib Abdul Razak and start working on issues concerning the rakyat's welfare, Mohamed Khaled Nordin (above) has told Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

In a statement tonight, the Umno vice-president said the people are tired of hearing the Pakatan Harapan government's script on 1MDB and kleptocracy while issues concerning the rakyat such as the cost of living, salaries, low-cost housing and general welfare remain unaddressed.

"Let the law take its course and until he (Najib) is proven guilty, we cannot 'punish' him.

"Is that not the 'rule of law' that you always preach about?" Khaled asked in reference to the various charges of corruption and abuse of power faced by the former premier.

Khaled was responding to Mahathir's blog post yesterday in which he had asked whether PAS was endorsing Najib's alleged crimes by establishing formal ties with Umno.

Commenting on the cooperation, Khaled said it is about to change the country's political scenario and unite the Malays to levels never witnessed before.

Umno and PAS will no longer fight, he pledged, as it is time to unite for the sake of the Malay race and the country.

Regardless of the outcome of the cooperation, Khaled urged Mahathir to stay out of Umno and PAS' business.

"It is our business, so let us handle it. Whether or not it succeeds, it is up to us.

"We also wish you all the best in your journey with DAP which you have chosen to take."
