Former premier Najib Abdul Razak has hit back at PKR deputy president Azmin Ali, saying the latter's intent to insult is clear, but the target is less so.

“Yesterday, someone said the Malays in Semenyih are not the same as those in Cameron Highlands. He said they are not 'small town' Malays (Melayu pekan).

“Just what did he mean? That the Cameron Highlands folk are not as intelligent as those in Semenyih, or vice-versa?” he asked in a Facebook posting this afternoon.

Speaking in Semenyih last night, Azmin said Malay voters in the state constituency would not be taken in by Najib's “Bossku” antics compared to those in Cameron Highlands.

The economic affairs minister, who described Najib as “Pencuriku”, also challenged the former premier to hit the campaign trail for the March 2 Semenyih by-election.

Responding to this, Najib pointed out that he never said that he would go to Semenyih.

“If I do go, it would be to visit friends and find the best place to share a meal together. Even that would be a coincidence,” he added.

The former premier also took a jibe over nine Pakatan Harapan ministers visiting Semenyih in the past three days, comparing it to the odds of winning the first prize in Sports Toto twice in a row.

Najib also said that if possible he wished to visit the waterfalls in the Semenyih area and take a dip.
