Bersatu leader Rais Yatim has chastised his fellow party members who lodged police reports against former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak, who is currently in Langkawi.

"Truths will remain truths, facts will remain facts. No need to lodge police reports just because Najib is going about Langkawi taking selfies and hanging out with people he knows.

"Just wait for his case to be decided on by the courts," Rais, who is the party's Negeri Sembilan chief, tweeted today.

Langkawi police chief Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim said five reports were lodged by local Bersatu leaders yesterday.

The reports urged police to probe whether Najib had permits to conduct his programmes, and if there were elements of racism or sedition.

Najib arrived in Langkawi on Friday to attend meet-and-greet events with supporters across three days.

Langkawi is the constituency of his arch-rival, Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

On Feb 12, Najib is scheduled to be tried for criminal breach of trust and laundering RM42 million in relation to former 1MDB subsidiary SRC International Sdn Bhd.

Najib is facing 10 charges over SRC International.

Overall, he has been slapped with 41 charges related to SRC International and 1MDB-related dealings.

He has denied all charges against him.
