The Companies Commission (CCM) today denied claims that certified true copies (CTC) of documents purchased from the commission may be of questionable authenticity.

In a statement, the commission stressed that its CTC system had been properly developed and was in compliance with the law.

CCM's statement comes in response to the Malaysiakini report on Thursday quoting sources saying that MACC investigators had uncovered an issue with CCM's CTC system.

The MACC claimed that its investigators discovered the issue when probing alleged corruption and abuse of power in the commission.

"CCM strongly denies a news portal's report alleging that the authenticity of online CTC documents is questionable.

"For information, the system's development was conducted properly and is in accordance with legal provisions governed by CCM.

"All CTC documents issued through the online system are authentic and are certified as true copies of documents that are in CCM's registry.

"Thus, CCM affirms that the copies of documents being used by the public are legally valid and there is no basis to doubt their authenticity," said the statement.

The commission also urged all parties including the media not to make any speculation regarding the issue.

CCM urged those who had questions about its products to call 03-77214000 for clarification.
