CAMERON POLLS | DAP Youth has called on PAS leaders to 'repent' for their alleged continuous slander that the Harapan component party is anti-Malay, anti-Islam, and anti-monarchy.

DAP Youth chief Howard Lee said Harapan's stand on the position of Islam, bumiputera special rights, and Bahasa Melayu as the national language has always been in line with the provisions of the Federal Constitution.

"The DAP abides by this stand 100 percent.

"If there was any quarters including certain PAS leaders who tried to deny that fact or slander us, then there is nothing left to do beyond hoping that God will pay them back for their deeds," said the Pasir Pinji assemblyperson.

Lee's statement today was issued in response to PAS Youth deputy chief Khairil Nizam Khirudin's insistence that DAP has been attempting to compromise related constitutional safeguards over the years with its fight for equal rights.

Khairil's call was made less than 24 hours after DAP Youth lodged a police report against PAS Youth chief Muhammad Khalil Abdul Hadi over what it claims was a racially and religiously charged campaign by Umno and PAS in the Cameron Highlands by-election.

Specifically, the report cited remarks allegedly made during a joint ceramah by Umno and PAS in Kampung Keledek on Friday night, where the speakers branded the party "anti-Malay and anti-Islam."

Lee, who is also a Perak state exco, further said he has always been guided by the wisdom of Perak's Sultan Nazrin Sultan Azlan Shah with regard to people's expectations for their leaders.

"PAS has issued accusations and slanderous statements about Harapan and DAP attempting to 'abolish the royal institution'.

"To me this is an accusation that is treasonous and insults the intelligence of our Malay rulers, as well as diminishes the supremacy of the royal institution and the federal constitution as a whole," said Lee.

He urged PAS Youth to refrain from “planting fear among voters” by allegedly misusing the names of the sultans and tarnishing the sanctity of the royal institution.
