Former ambassador of Malaysia to the Netherlands Noor Farida Mohd Ariffin has been appointed as the chairperson of the Human Resources Development Fund (HRDF).

Noor Farida is also known as an outspoken member of the G25 group, which comprises eminent former civil servants.

In a statement today, HRDF said the appointment was effective Jan 1.

"Farida has had a long and distinguished career in public service as a judge, legal adviser and diplomat, most notably as the ambassador of Malaysia to the Netherlands.

"Since her retirement from the Foreign Ministry in 2012, Farida has, among others, headed the law reform committee at the National Council of Women Organisations; she also serves on the boards of EcoWorld Berhad and Aerospace Technology Systems Corp Sdn Bhd," it said.

Apart from Farida's long career as a diplomat, she had also served as a Sessions Court judge and acted as the director of the Legal Aid Bureau.

She was also previously seconded by the government to the Commonwealth Secretariat in London as the director of its Women and Development Programme.

Noor Farida's entry into HRDF comes amid graft allegations within the agency last year.

HRDF had pledged its full cooperation over claims that RM300 million was misappropriated from the fund.
