Yoursay: Wouldn’t it better to rally against the kleptocrats?
ADS

YOURSAY | ‘It’s so good to see the former kleptocrats are sweating out on the road.’

Gathering ends after prayer to shorten Harapan's rule

Anonymous Today: I am happy that the rally went on without any racial flare-ups and opportunistic violence. Everyone has the right to voice and participate in protesting what they feel is unfair to them within the limits of the law.

But why invite former PM Najib Razak and gang who are tainted with corruption? Umno could be very well on its way to history but PAS is still a force to be reckoned with, and if led to a middle path, may see it gain traction among voters.

Unfortunately, PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang and his team have associated themselves with Najib too closely thus revealing his weakness for material and political expediency.

Anonymous 2439891477538802: PAS and Umno are invoking divine intervention in shortening Pakatan Harapan's rule which came about through the will of the rakyat.

How religion and God came into this political mix is bewildering. Everyone knows that only through the ballot box can you bring about a change in government.

The pertinent question to ask the rally organisers is whether in making this preposterous plea to the Almighty, PAS and Umno subscribe to parliamentary democracy through the ballot box in Malaysia.

It is not unreasonable to expect that if this unholy alliance were to be the government, the multiracial fabric of our society will be torn to shreds by this group of mullahs and extremists.

Thus, it is our sacred duty, in order to preserve the status quo, to ensure that Umno and PAS are rejected by the rakyat at the ballot box in future elections.

Clever Voter: Ending Harapan rule is not difficult. Move to the middle ground, where inclusivity and fairness reside. Stop using race and religion in pursuit of political objectives.

Since the bottom of 40 percent (B40) are poor and largely of Malay ethnicity, the agenda of social reforms and help would already been achieved.

But the biggest obstacle is to come clean on corruption and patronage as these come hand in hand.

The world is watching, and such event is laughable, especially when you have individuals charged for all sorts of criminal breach of trust on stage at the rally.

StraightTalk: Umno and PAS leaders said that the anti-Icerd (anti-International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination) rally was not about anti-Chinese or anti-Indian and it was not about racism. Fine.

Then what was the rally for? Was it a gathering just to criticise Harapan leaders and then ask for God's blessings to quickly end the rule of a democratically-elected government that came into power just about seven months ago?

And of course, Umno's Tajuddin Abdul Rahman said that United Nations has no clue about the problems of the Malays, and those in Sabah and Sarawak. Perhaps the people in UN are not familiar with these issues.

But Tajuddin should know that they are very well aware of who betrayed the Malays in this country.

David Dass: Indeed, what is this demonstration really about? Who are they demonstrating against? Icerd has been accepted by 179 out of the 196 independent nations of the world.

In other words, only 17 nations have not accepted Icerd. These include North Korea, Myanmar, Brunei and South Sudan. Most Muslim-majority countries have ratified Icerd.

Icerd is not anti-Islam, anti-Malay, anti-royalty, anti-Article 153 of our Constitution. In fact, Icerd can be ratified subject to any reservations we want, including the entire Constitution.

But all that is academic now. The government has said that they will not be ratifying Icerd. So we remain one out of 17 nations that have not ratified Icerd. The opposition have won.

So what are these people demonstrating about?

Mano: Yes, their right to attend the rally should be respected. But I cannot be faulted for revealing my true feelings of sadness.

It’s sad that there are so many of our fellow Malaysians who have lost the capability to see things objectively.

Can these rally goers find out why Saudi Arabia and other Islamic countries have ratified Icerd?

University graduates who earn minimally refusing to pay RM20, what kind of people are they? Which universities did they come from? We want to know which graduates to be avoided to fill vacant positions.

Anonymous: Those students after taking a study loan by right should be grateful enough to repay it on completion of their education.

They again succumbed to their poor upbringing and entitlement mentality with the pretext of untenable excuses in refusing to repay PTPTN (National Higher Education Fund).

Will these people of the younger generation and the future leaders of the land become good leaders with integrity, credibility, righteousness and sense of justice to steer the nation to the track of progress and development later?

Lodestar: This was a rally that shows how PAS-Umno can manipulate up to 80,000 delusional persons to attend, many coming from the other side of the peninsula.

They were against a non-existent threat to their rights and religion, under a convention that carries no such implications and is not going to be signed anyway.

These are people manipulated by leaders who care nothing about building a new Malaysia that is fair, just, inclusive, prosperous and corruption-free.

Odysseus: It’s so good to see the former kleptocrats are sweating out on the road. Too bad PAS has backed the wrong horse.

So, they have to keep sweating and lying to their supporters to support kleptocrats and criminals.

Selsub: The gathering is part and parcel of democracy.

But I’m sad that a lot of participants cannot recognise that they could have been much better economically if the people who have mobilised the crowd shared the wealth they have looted from them.
