Former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak and his wife Rosmah Mansor today visited fireman Muhammad Adib Muhammad Kassim, who was critically injured by rioters last Tuesday.

The couple visited Adib this morning at the National Heart Institute (IJN) and noted that the latter can now make hand gestures.

"The most significant improvement (to his condition happened) today," Najib told reporters later.

Rosmah urged Malaysians to pray for Adib's speedy recovery so he can return to his duties soon.

"I understand that he is supposed to get married on Dec 21. God willing, he will do so.

"When I visited him, he could (make a thumbs up gesture). As a mother, I understand the feelings of his family," she said.

Adib was critically injured after he and his colleagues were attacked by rioters.

After his transfer to IJN, he has received a steady stream of visitors, including acting Agong Sultan Nazrin Shah and Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
