Jeers turns to cheers at Perkasa protest as gov't backs down on Icerd

An angry protest in the rain by some 50 members of right-wing Malay movement Perkasa turned to praise after news broke that the Pakatan Harapan government has decided against ratifying the United Nations International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination (Icerd).

Led by Perkasa president Ibrahim Ali, the gathering, which took place at the Ara Damansara mosque following the afternoon Friday prayers, was also in protest of the government's initial proposal to ratify the Convention, as well as the moratorium on the use of the Sedition Act 1948 pending its repeal...
