M Indira Gandhi has demanded updates from the Pakatan Harapan government and inspector-general of police Fuzi Harun on efforts to locate her daughter Prasana Diksa, who had been taken away by her ex-husband nine years ago.

"It has been many, many years now, and I am yet to see my youngest daughter Prasana, let alone hear any updates about efforts to locate her and my fugitive ex-husband.

"Where are they? Is Prasana alive? Is she well? As her mother, I do not know these things which I rightfully should. Why? Because the authorities have yet to tell me anything about her," Indira said.

She said this in an open letter to Putrajaya and the IGP published by Malay Mail today.

In 2009, Indira's ex-husband converted to Islam and took the name Muhammad Riduan Abdullah.

He also unilaterally converted their three children, and later took away Prasana when she was just 11 months old.

Since then, Indira has only seen Prasana once at a solitary court proceeding when her daughter was a year and six months old.

The High Court in Ipoh had issued an arrest warrant against Ridhuan in 2014, and Fuzi says police have been searching for him since.

Human Resources Minister M Kulasegaran, who was Indira's lawyer, has also said he would ask the police to expedite the search.

Thus far, however, no developments have been reported.

Indira has custody of her two elder children, and though all three have had their conversions quashed by the Federal Court in January, the mother has said she was open to advice for Prasana to continue practising as a Muslim.

However, for now, Indira said she will continue pushing for answers on her daughter's whereabouts.

"I love my daughter very much. I do not know how long I will be alive. But as long as I breathe, I will say Prasana’s name every day. I will keep asking about her until she is reunited with me and her two other siblings.

"My new Malaysia is the day my daughter is returned to me.

"So to the IGP and the Harapan government - how long more?" she asked in her letter.
