No case against Malacca senior exco member - MACC
ADS

There will be no charges filed against a Malacca state exco member who was accused of obtaining kickbacks amounting to RM2.6 million in August.

MACC Investigation Department director Simi Abd Ghani said the decision was made by the deputy public prosecutor, who found that they have no case to prosecute.

"MACC has wrapped up the probe into the allegation and forwarded the investigation paper to the DPP.

"The DPP then decided that there was no case (to proceed to court)," he told Malaysiakini today.

It was reported in August that MACC had opened an investigation against the exco member after he was accused of seeking kickbacks from a state-linked firm.

Malaysiakini was told by sources that the exco member is a Bersatu politician, who is a first-term state assemblyperson and holds a senior portfolio.

The Star Online had on Aug 27 carried a report saying that MACC had questioned the exco member and a businessman for allegedly attempting to solicit kickbacks from a mega developer in the state.

It said that the exco member's office in Malacca was also raided by authorities as part of their investigation.
