Former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak today poked fun at Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng and his special officer Tony Pua for apparently contradicting each other on Moody's decision to downgrade its outlook for Petronas.

Najib pointed out that the two put out differing statements despite being in the same ministry.

"Maybe they don't have a WhatsApp group," he said in a tweet today, which was accompanied by screenshots of two news reports to back his claim.

Last week, Moody's Investors Service had affirmed its A1 rating for several Petronas debt papers, but changed its outlook from stable to negative.

This followed Putrajaya's plans to draw RM30 billion in special dividends from Petronas.

Earlier today, Lim said he disagreed with Moody's decision on grounds that Petronas' business performance was unaffected by the move.

Similarly, Pua told a business forum in Kuala Lumpur on Friday that the rating change was only applicable if Putrajaya continuously asks for special dividend payments.

He previously said that this was a one-off arrangement.

'Harapan admitting to slander'

In a separate tweet, Najib alleged that Pakatan Harapan is now forced to admit to slandering him in the past.

In a Facebook posting this afternoon, he cited a Berita Harian report which quoted Housing and Local Government Minister Zuraida Kamaruddin as stating foreigners own not more than one percent of all properties nationwide.

Najib noted that in the past, Harapan leaders had accused him of selling land to foreigners, and recalled some of the allegations hurled at him.

Among others, the former premier listed the accusations as “Najib jual negara (Najib is selling the country)", “Sampai bila kita nak jual dan gadai tanah kita? Undur Najib (Until when are we going to sell and pawn our land? Step down Najib!)" and “Warga asing dah ambil alih Malaysia (Foreigners have taken over Malaysia)."

"Perhaps God wants to show their slander towards me in the past. Now, they are forced to admit to this one by one," he added.
