A Sarawak PKR division head said he has handed to the MACC “incontrovertible” evidence of vote buying during the Julau PKR division elections last Saturday.

The report was lodged by Betong division head Vernon Albert Kedit in Kuching this morning.

“In this tiny thumb drive is explosive and shocking evidence that blatant and unbridled corruption occurred rampantly in Julau on Nov 10.

“The details are sickening and the modus operandi disgusting, to say the least,” Kedit said in a statement to the press.

About 2,000 people turned up to vote in the tiny town, located about an hour south of Sibu last Saturday, mostly clad in bright yellow T-shirts to express their support for Larry Sng, who is vying for the Julau PKR division leadership and a seat on the party’s central leadership council.

Voting was suspended about 2pm on allegations that the tablet computers used for the e-voting process were compromised.

Kedit said there were brave people who came forward and offered evidence of corrupt practices during the elections.

“(Such corrupt practices are) an outright mockery of what our party stands for,” he said.

“Therefore, I am here this morning to lodge a second report with the MACC and hand over this new evidence, which is the logical culmination of the carefully engineered and orchestrated scheme to intentionally manipulate our party's election process and outcome.”

Kedit had on Oct 25 lodged a report to MACC on an alleged attempt to cover up irregularities with the Julau PKR membership records.

Julau PKR division was among the local party chapters with saw a drastic increase in membership in June. In recent weeks, several individuals have lodged reports with the authorities because their names appeared on the list without their consent.

However, PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution has maintained that the records were legitimate. He said the names of about 13,000 new members were submitted by Sng on June 12 and affirmed by the party’s leadership.

Kedit said he was unable to divulge the nature of the evidence he has submitted to the MACC in order not to prejudice evidence.

“The damning evidence speaks for itself and we leave it to the MACC to take appropriate action.

“Parti Keadilan stands for justice and I stand here with my colleagues this morning to serve only one purpose: that justice is not only served but seen to be served, and served swiftly.

“We will not tolerate anything less,” he said.
