The Penang state government today announced a half-month bonus or a minimum of RM1,000 for members of the Penang civil service.
Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow when tabling the 2019 Penang State Budget said the bonus payment to the 3,915 state civil servants would be made in December.
"In appreciation (for their services), the state government had approved a year-end bonus that is equivalent to half-a-month salary or a minimum of RM1,000 to all state civil servants,” he said here today.
He hoped the bonus payment involving a total of RM5.23 million could inspire the state civil servants in discharging their duty.
Chow said the state government would also give a bonus of RM3,000 to the 1,590 supervisors and teachers of the Al-Quran and Fardu Ain classes; 270 teachers of Sekolah Rendah Agama Rakyat; 182 teachers of Sekolah Menengah Agama Rakyat; and 572 teachers and staff of Chinese private schools.
A total of 240 Tahfiz teachers, Guru Pondok and Islamic Kindergarten teachers would receive RM200 each.
Payment to this group which will involve an additional RM832,000 will also be made in December.
