The restructuring of the administration of Bersatu, which is now actively being carried out, is to resolve the internal problems of the party and at the same time strengthen the party again.

Party secretary-general Marzuki Yahya said efforts to strengthen the party would be made for the survival of the party to continue the struggles to empower the Malays.

"We were facing a major problem previously where the party was dissolved temporarily before the last general election.

"As a result, we faced numerous internal problems, especially the problem of memberships missing besides the problem of irresponsible groups who tried to sabotage and weaken the party.

"But now, when we have become the government, we have given them space to redeem themselves and return to be together with us in the struggles to empower the party and the Malays,” he said.

He disclosed this to reporters after a getting-to-know-you session with members of Johor Bersatu in Kulai today.

Also present were Menteri Besar Osman Sapian and several divisional heads of Bersatu in Johor.

Marzuki also announced the appointment of Osman as state Bersatu chairperson effective immediately and the Bersatu divisional head for Ayer Hitam after the seat fell vacant.

He said that besides Johor, several other states would also be revamped in terms of the post of the state party head.
