DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang has questioned whether the current MCA leadership under its deputy Wee Ka Siong is prepared to come clean on the 1MDB-linked funds the party allegedly received from then prime minister Najib Abdul Razak.

Lim noted that former MCA president Chua Soi Lek had in 2015 admitted that Najib provided an "unprecedented pledge to fund BN component parties".

"Is Wee prepared to make a clean breast and tell Malaysians the whole story of MCA’s involvement in the 1MDB scandal as MCA is not an innocent party in the 1MDB scandal?" he said in a statement today.

Outgoing MCA president Liow Tiong Lai has indicated that he will not be defending his position following MCA's disastrous performance in the 14th general election and Wee is the frontrunner to take up the position.

Amid several Umno leaders being charged for corruption, Lim noted that there were questions over why the same had not befallen on other BN component parties.

For example, Lim noted that former Umno supreme council member Puad Zarkashi had raised the question but explained that the BN component parties were already "dead" and therefore did not need to be "killed further".

"Will Wee (photo) answer Puad or will the answer come from former MCA president Chua Soi Lek at the launching of his autobiography 'Like Me or Hate Me: Rising from the Political Ashes' in Kuala Lumpur tomorrow?" said LIm.

On a separate matter, Lim criticised PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang for suggesting that the DAP was against balanced development, particularly for less developed states.

This was after Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad announced that the revised 11th Malaysian Plan will provide more attention to such states, namely Kelantan, Terengganu, Sabah, Sarawak, Perlis and Kedah.

"Hadi will be a disgrace to political Islam if he cannot substantiate his allegation that DAP discriminates against the East Coast by opposing equal development for Terengganu and Kelantan.

"Lies and falsehoods are as sinful in Islam as in other great religions in the world, and no honourable religious teacher will resort to lies and falsehoods to advance his personal agenda.

"I am giving Hadi two days to substantiate his allegation or he will stand convicted in the court of public opinion in Malaysia and the world of resorting to lies and falsehoods to pursue to his political ends," he said.
