Deputy Home Minister Mohd Azis Jamman’s former aide who was caught allegedly filming an upskirt video of a woman at an optometry shop has been released on police bail, according to a report.

The Star quoted Kuala Lumpur CID chief Rusdi Md Isa confirming the release of the suspect.

He reportedly said the suspect is a man in his 40s and was arrested at about 1pm yesterday, before being released last night.

“I can confirm he was released on police bail.

“We are investigating the matter further,” Rusdi was quoted as saying.

The report added that police are urging anyone with information on the case to contact senior investigating officer Azrizal Khairul Abd Kadir at 019-276 9117 or the Sentul police district headquarters at 03-4048 2233.

The incident supposedly took place on the morning of Sept 8 while the female worker at the shop was examining Mohd Azis’ eyesight.

CCTV videos purportedly show a man, who was accompanying the deputy minister, recording images from underneath her skirt using his smartphone, while she was attending to the deputy minister. The video has since been circulated on social media.

In a statement after news broke of the incident, Mohd Azis said he sacked his aide.

"The action was deplorable and despicable. I have decided to take stern action against the officer who made the recording.

"After consideration, I have made the decision to sack the officer immediately as it affects my image and credibility as deputy home minister as well as the office of the deputy home minister," he said.
