The procedure for usage of lanes for VIPs at&nbsp;airports will be tightened to avoid misuse,&nbsp;Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook said today.

Loke had&nbsp;directed the Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd to look into the matter so that airport security could be enhanced.

&ldquo;Prior to this, even ministry officials were allowed to use it, hence we need to have a more stringent procedure to ensure that not everyone can use the VIP lanes,&rdquo; he said in a press conference at the Malaysian Aviation Commission (Mavcom) office today.

Loke said tighter security inspection would also be carried out on their bags.

&ldquo;Previously, it was understood that the inspection of their hand luggage might not be so tight, but from now on their hand luggage will have to go through a tighter security inspection.&quot;

Loke said this when responding to the allegations of flights or private jets associated with VIPs that were believed to be used to smuggle in a&nbsp;large amount of cash into the country.
