A Vietnamese man suspected of using fake immigration approval stamp was among 74 undocumented migrants detained in Op Mega 3.0 yesterday.

Perak Immigration Department director Kamalludin Ismail said the 42-year-old man was believed to have committed the offence in order to stay longer in the country.

“We will investigate further the syndicate involved, we suspect he used the Johor Immigration Department fake stamp in Johor Bahru to leave (Malaysia), but he did not leave," he said in a media conference at the Home Ministry Complex in Ipoh last night.

Kamalludin said the 74 undocumented migrants, aged between 20 and 50, comprising Bangladeshis, Vietnamese, Myanmar and Indonesian nationals, were arrested in three locations around the city in the operation.

All the detained undocumented migrants would be sent to the Langkap immigration detention depot for further investigation, he added.

Kamaludin noted that up to August this year, the Perak Immigration Department conducted 340 operations with 1,249 undocumented migrants and 33 employers being detained.
