Fatin Nursyahirah Yusuf, 24, had breathed her last less than 24 hours after her marriage was solemnised last week.

She had been suffering from stage four sarcoma cancer, according to the Star Online.

Her brother, Shukur Yusuf, who documented the wedding on Facebook, said his sister was taken to the hospital after Friday prayers when her breathing deteriorated.

"God loves her more and she left us at dawn on Saturday with Mama, Abah (father), her husband, Mak Besah, and myself by her side," he wrote in the post which has since gone viral.

Shukur told the Star Online that Fatin, whose final wish was to undergo the wedding ceremony, had two surgeries and radiotherapy sessions since last year, but this could not prevent the cancer from spreading.

"She was inconsolable. I tried to encourage her even when I was crying myself," he added.

Shukur, 30, said his sister and her husband, who was identified only as Azzam, got engaged in June last year.

He said Azzam's family agreed to proceed with the wedding despite Fatin's condition.

"We were very moved by Azzam and his family’s sincerity who accepted an ailing person to be part of their lives.

"After the solemnisation ceremony, we felt grateful and relieved that they were able to be united as husband and wife, even if it would just be for a short while," he said.

Shukur said his sister looked beautiful during the ceremony, which was attended by family members, witnesses and the kadi.

"She was a happy-go-lucky person. But she would keep her problems to herself as she never wanted to trouble anyone. That was Kakak," he added.

Shukur said his family had accepted Fatin's passing as part of God's plan.
